Wielichowo, Kreis Kosten, Posen

Wielichowo was granted to the Bishop of Poznan in 1297. It later became a manorial farm village and was probably leased out to generate income for the church. Following are pictures of the manor house and the manorial farm barns.

 

The village has three churches. The old Lutheran church depicted below was converted into commercial space and now houses shops plus a hall which can be used for wedding receptions or first communion parties. The hall is fairly boring except for the fine ceiling left from the church. Following are pictures of the exterior of the church as well as pictures of the ceiling.

The village also has two other churches one of which dates back to 1304, a town hall, and old market plaza now a park. Here are pictures of those plus a street scene:

 

My interest in this village results from Remus family in this village; that family also lived in Nowy Tomsyl and Rakwitz. Here are details.

 

CARL AUGUST REMUS was born 1802. He married JOHANNA CAROLINA KRÖNERT 25 Oct 1827 in Neutomischel (Nowy Tomysl), Kreis Neutomischel. She was born Jul 1807 in Neutomischel (Nowy Tomysl), Kreis Neutomischel. CARL AUGUST REMUS:was a Shoemaker.

iv. CARL BERTHOLD REMUS, b. 04 Jan 1838, Wielichowo; d. 17 Jan 1838, Wielichowo.

v. CAROLINA HENRIETTA REMUS, b. 23 Aug 1839, Wielichowo.

vi. ERNST LOUIS REMUS, b. 07 May 1843, Wielichowo.

vii. EDUARD HERMANN REMUS, b. 31 May 1847, Podgora Powitz.
