Click West Prussia

The Remus family lived in West Prussia (modern northern Poland) from 1600 including a fair number of Remus family members in Danzig (click here to go directly to the Danzig information). This section also contains a lot on life in West Prussia. Also, the West Prussia section lists all known Remus family members in the 1700's and 1800's in West Prussia. The Remus family originated in Saxony (Click here for information on Saxony) and came via Neumark to West Prussia. From West Prussia they migrated to Volhynia and North America. Click on Posen Cloth Makers

Many of the cloth makers in the villages north of Posen also chose to migrate to Volhynia and America. In fact, the first wave of migration to Volhynia in the 1830's was the cloth makers. The particular focus here is on the Krassin family of Schokken, Rattai, and Radowonke and the Hardwardt family of Szczepanowo and Rogowo. Also information is provided on Schoenlanke, the home of the Schultz family of Alberta.

The genealogical information on the Posen Cloth Maker Families is intermixed with the information for the Volhynia and Kiev residents following.

Click on Augsburg

For a while I thought that I might be a descendent of the Rem(us) family of Augsburg. I am not related but the story of the Patrician Rem(us) family of Augsburg dating back to the 1300's is very interesting anyway.
